Medium green shade number 42 from the Real Colors range, a 17 ml bottle. The color of the irregular blotches that broke up the outline of the upper surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
A medium-strength green from the Real Colors range by AK Interactive in a 17 ml bottle. Number 42 belongs to the American set of shades of the Second World War period. Against the dark olive drab number 41 it is distinctly greener and less earthy, so next to it it makes a visible but not loud difference.
This shade was not applied over the whole surface but in blotches along the leading edges and at the tips of the wings and tail surfaces, where it had to break up the regular outline of the machine. The blotches have irregular shapes with a soft edge and must not repeat to a template, otherwise the result looks machine-made. The same paint is useful wherever you need a green tone for layering and shading olive drab areas.
For a soft blotch edge, spray from close up and at low pressure, or screen the edge with a mask laid loosely and lifted above the surface. Stir the paint thoroughly beforehand and apply it in thin coats so that the surface detail stays visible under the blotch. Wash and degrease the surface before painting and remove the masks only once the paint has dried. The recommended thinner, the thinning ratio and tool cleaning are stated by the manufacturer; stick to its figures.
For the modeler who builds American subjects of the Second World War period and wants to add green blotches to the camouflage. The package contains only the paint, 17 ml; thinner, primer and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
