A medium viscosity for loaded joints

The thicker of the pair of premium oils deals with friction where metal rubs against metal, metal against plastic and plastic against plastic. Good adhesion to a surface is emphasized for it, so it does not run off a shaft before it has done its work. At the same time it slows the forming of rust, corrosion and oxidation on metal surfaces, which everybody building equipment for long-term operation will appreciate.

At a temperature of forty degrees Celsius the value given reaches about 68 units, that is noticeably more than with the lighter version. The difference shows on slowly turning and more heavily loaded parts, where a thin lubricant would not hold for long. The bottle holds 14.7 ml, and because it is dosed drop by drop it lasts for years.

Typical use

Besides the running gear of railroad models from HO upward it is advised for the pinions and gears of slot cars and for the linkages of radio-controlled models. It will find a use outside a workshop too: with precise instruments, fishing reels, office equipment and small appliances with a metal drive.

A stronger film moreover damps the noise of a drive, because it fills the backlash between the teeth. With older drives with worn gears this tends to be the fastest way to a quieter running without taking a whole mechanism apart.

Before lubricating it pays off to remove the old lubricant. A new layer would mix with it and the effect would be lost. With older drives showing traces of rust the seating faces are cleaned first and only then is the oil applied, as otherwise the dirt stays shut in under the film and the drudgery is repeated in a few months.
