Metal rings in the shape of a D, 25 mm wide. A grip for straps, belts and hangers on costumes and on models in large scales.
Responsibility details are not available.
A ring in the shape of the letter D differs from a round one in one essential thing: it has a straight side. A strap does not slide along it and stays where the builder threaded it, while the pull is carried through the rounded part. That is why this part appears everywhere something is tightened or hung, from military equipment to backpacks and harnesses.
Without a finished part what is left is bending wire, soldering the joint and hoping it will hold. A metal ring leaves this stage out and supplies a firm point straight away, one that will bear the load of a costume while it is worn. The width of 25 millimeters is stated directly in the name, so it can be worked out in advance how wide a strap will pass through it and how much room it will take up on the strapping.
It pays to degrease the metal before painting and to go over it with a primer meant for smooth surfaces, otherwise the paint will soon flake off at the points of contact. If the part is meant to look worn, a light sanding of the edges to a shine and a dark glaze in the bend will help. And because this is a load-bearing element, it is worth checking how its joint is arranged before a heavy piece of equipment is hung on it.
Straps, buckles and tools are not enclosed with it. Count also on a larger area of strapping using up more rings than one estimates from the desk.
