The Armored Chestnut is a plastic kit from the Mobile Armor line of the maker Suyata. It is not a miniature of real equipment in any ratio — it is a deliberately stylized, artistically simplified combat machine of the sort carried in modeling under the designation egg model or cute model. Stylized models are not stated in a scale, because they have no real subject to which they could be related.
The line stands on a simple idea: the individual machines carry names after nuts and fruits — almond, peanut, walnut and chestnut — and keep a shared artistic language, so that side by side on a shelf they work as a coherent group. Alongside the individual models the line also offers a collective set, which brings them together under one name.
Stylized models forgive less than it seems at first glance. The shapes are large, smooth and rounded, so every trace of the mold parting line and every remaining sprue nub will stand out on them. It therefore pays to cut the parts off with a margin, sand the remainder down with fine abrasive paper and polish the surface over. Before painting, apply a filler primer, which unifies the surface and reveals any overlooked grooves. Saturated colors suit an airbrush and thin coats; the divisions and the shadows will be drawn out by a dark paneliner run into the engraved lines. A final semi-gloss or matte varnish will unify the surface and protect the paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
