Hasegawa photo-etched metal mesh with a square pattern and a large opening is used to make realistic grilles, screens and perforated covers on models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit or an accessory for a particular model but a universal modeling material. The sheet is a fine photo-etched metal mesh with a regular square pattern in the larger opening size, so the structure stays clearly readable even after painting and at normal viewing distance. The material is thin and pliable, can be cut with photo-etch scissors and bent slightly into a curve.
Cut off a piece with some to spare, lay it over the opening and only then trim it exactly to shape. Metal will not hold with ordinary cement for plastic, so use cyanoacrylate applied in a small amount around the edges of the opening, or epoxy. Degrease the surface before painting and lay down a primer. Apply the paint in thin coats and from a greater distance so that the openings do not flood. The square pattern has a pronounced orientation, so before gluing make sure the lines follow the surrounding shapes of the part.
For modelers of every field who want to replace blind plastic grilles with a genuinely perforated surface. The job is undemanding and even a modeler who is only starting out with metal accessories will manage it.
The cut edges of the metal mesh are sharp, so work carefully and clear away the scrap at once. Ensure ventilation when sanding and painting.
