Eight shades for the machines of the postwar Luftwaffe, covering the gray and aluminum schemes as well as the later olive green camouflage with signal orange.
Responsibility details are not available.
After it was re-established, the Luftwaffe went through several waves of color regulations and each of them gave its machines an entirely different face. The oldest standards left the lower surfaces in a light aluminum tone and covered the upper ones with a combination of green and gray, the next generation brought a darker base gray, and the last of them unified the machines of the Marineflieger into a cold gray scheme. Alongside them there were also training finishes with signal areas, which were meant to make a machine more visible in service.
The package holds eight shades. Besides two aluminum tones and three grays, which form the backbone of both the lower and the upper surfaces, it includes the olive green of the upper surfaces, a bold signal orange and a supplementary gray tone. Most of them are listed under a number according to the RAL standard, so they can be looked up outside this box as well. The shades can be combined across the individual standards, because they all share the same binder.
The set covers a wide range of well-known machines: the supersonic fighter bomber with short wings, the light Italian-built jet, the Canadian version of a classic fighter, a jet trainer type and a helicopter of the Marineflieger. The paints are made for spraying, they are thinned with the thinner from the manufacturer and they behave best in two or three thin coats. The transition between the gray and the green can be done with a sharp edge on these machines, because the regulations worked with firmly set shapes for the fields.
