Wetland light — Model Scene

A wetland is a waterlogged area with characteristic vegetation — tall grasses, sedges and reeds that grow in dense clumps by water. This product is finished growth in the lightest of the three shades offered. It is neither assembled nor painted, only laid down and glued into a scene. The manufacturer is the Czech brand Model Scene, which has long devoted itself to diorama vegetation.

When to reach for the light shade

The light version matches sunlit, open areas and shallows, where the vegetation gets plenty of light and its color is faded. Use it in exposed and open places, at the edge of a body of water toward the meadows and where the growth is meant to recede visually into the background. It is precisely the grading of the light, medium and dark versions that is the key to a realistic wetland — a single-colored area of reeds reads as flat. The light growth logically belongs on sunlit edges, the darker ones in shady corners and deeper water.

Usage tips

• Plant the growth in irregular clumps, not in a continuous band along the whole bank.
• Glue with PVA glue, and with an imitation water surface allow for the order of work according to the system you use.
• Combine several shades of wetland, so that the area gains depth.
• Fill the transition from water to land with a muddy scatter, fine scatter and fallen plant material.
• The lower parts of the stems can be darkened slightly so that they read as waterlogged.
