A water-based acrylic paint from the Aqua line by Slovak manufacturer Mr.Paint. It is a modeling paint, not a kit — supplied in a dropper bottle and can be sprayed with an airbrush or applied with a brush. RLM 71 Dunkelgrün is a rich dark green that the Luftwaffe combined on the upper surfaces of its aircraft from the late 1930s into the first years of the war.
RLM 71 is one half of the pair of upper-surface colors in the early splinter camouflage — together with RLM 70 Schwarzgrün it forms the sharply broken geometric fields on the spine, wings, and upper fuselage. The scheme was typical of roughly the 1939–1941 period and appears on early Bf 109 variants, on the He 111, Ju 87, and Do 17. The lower surfaces to go with it are in light blue RLM 65. RLM 71 alone will not give you the camouflage — without RLM 70 for the other fields and RLM 65 for the underside, the model stays unfinished. Distinguish the shades carefully when painting: RLM 71 is greener and lighter, while RLM 70 is noticeably darker, tending toward black. It is exactly this contrast between the two greens that makes early camouflage legible.
For builders of early-war Luftwaffe aircraft and for modelers who prefer a water-thinnable acrylic — easier airbrush cleaning, lower odor, and gentler handling than with solvent-based lacquers.
A modeling paint, not a kit. Ventilate and use respiratory protection when spraying; keep out of reach of children.
