The Lifecolor set of modeling paints for modulating the dark gray finish of German equipment contains matched steps of one base tone for working with contrast and with reduced saturation.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of modeling paints from the Italian brand Lifecolor intended for color modulation. It is therefore not a set of varied shades but matched steps of one base tone, which is the dark gray used on German equipment. The set is built on two procedures: on working with contrast, where an area is brought to life with lighter and darker steps, and on reduced saturation, which takes some of the strength out of the color and brings it closer to the impression of a real surface. The specific list of shades, the number of bottles and the volume are given by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set.
Compared with a real machine a model has small areas, and a uniform finish on them looks flat and toylike. Modulation makes up for this drawback of scale: the middle of large areas is lightened, the edges and recesses are darkened, and the eye gains an impression of depth. A matched scale of one tone saves mixing and holds a uniform result across the whole model.
For modelers of equipment who want to start with modulation and do not want to mix the scale themselves, and for advanced modelers who find it useful to have matched steps of one tone at hand.
Keep the paints out of the reach of children, ventilate the area while you work and follow the manufacturer's safety instructions on the packaging.
