This is a printed diorama accessory in 1:35 scale, not a kit. The theme is traffic signs, that is the element without which a road scene looks unfinished. The set is placed into a diorama already under way and completes shoulders, crossroads, the entrances to villages and the approaches to bridges.
Over a road scene modelers most often deal with the surface of the roadway, the ruts and the marks left by vehicles, but an empty shoulder stays empty. Yet it is an upright sign that gives a scene its scale: the viewer unconsciously compares the height of the sign with a vehicle and with a figure, and the scene gains depth at once. A sign also directs the eye and helps to lead the composition to where the main action is taking place. In combat scenes traffic signs tended to be damaged, shot through or turned aside, which is a rewarding detail in itself.
