A stylized kit of the famous Starfighter from Freedom Model Kits, from the so-called Compact (egg) series. It is not a model to scale but a cartoon egg-shaped stylization with a short, stocky fuselage and a big head, which keeps the recognition features of the aircraft in a humorous form. The package contains two aircraft at once, the single-seat F-104G and the two-seat TF-104 trainer, in NATO markings. The parts are worked out for easy assembly.
The subject is the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, an American supersonic fighter with a very slender fuselage and short thin wings. The F-104G version was multi-role and spread to a number of NATO countries, while the two-seat TF-104 served to train pilots. The egg model takes the characteristic nose, wings and tail surfaces from the real subject and carries them over into a shortened, cute form, where the point is fun and collector's pleasure rather than accuracy of scale.
The build is undemanding and quick, suitable for fun and as a gift. Clean the parts of casting remnants and dry-fit them. You can leave the model in colored plastic or spray it in faithful NATO shades and add the decals supplied, which give it character. The pair of aircraft can be displayed together as an amusing scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
