The bust Blade Zero from the Neko Galaxy series in the Green Stuff World range, in 1:10 scale. A collector's format that replaces a whole figure with a section from the chest up.
In a display case a bust works as a portrait. It has no scene around it to draw attention away, so the whole impression is carried by the face and by what the character is wearing. Unlike a gaming miniature a bust is not held in the hand or moved around a table; it is meant to be looked at from close up and absolutely everything shows on it, including what nobody would notice on a small figure.
The most frequent subject with a character of this stamp is the clash of different materials: metal, fabric and leather right next to each other. Modelers tell them apart not only by shade but above all by the behavior of light. Metal has a narrow, sharp highlight, cloth a wide, soft one, leather lies somewhere in between. When the difference comes off, a piece looks convincing even with a very muted palette and needs no bright colors. In the bust format that difference is moreover visible at first glance, because the individual areas are large and lie close together, so they can be compared without moving closer.
