A modeling paint from the Orange Line range by the brand Hataka. Neutral Grey with the number 43 refers to the period American numbering of paint shades, in which this medium neutral gray belonged on the undersides of aircraft. Paired with the dark olive from the same chart it formed the basic camouflage scheme of American machines of the Second World War period, that is a dark back and a gray belly.
Besides the undersides of aircraft, neutral gray suits anywhere a gray without either a blue or a brown cast is wanted. It serves well as a base under light shades, as the color of landing gear bays and propeller blades, on small fittings, crates and equipment, and also for the first step of shading, when areas are played out into a lighter and a darker tone. Judge an exact match on a sprayed and dried sample, not on the paint in the bottle, because after drying and after a coat of varnish the shade shifts.
Gray is treacherous in that it looks different on a small area than on a whole fuselage, so try the tone on an offcut of plastic and judge it in the same light the model will stand in. A heavy coat floods the engraving and wipes out the three-dimensional detail you have worked up on the model. Close the bottle well after use and store it dry, out of direct sunlight and out of the reach of children.
Paint is supplied. A model, thinner, varnish and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
