No5 EARTH BROWN

AK interactive No5 Earth Brown — modeling acrylic paint, 17 ml

A water-based acrylic paint from the AFV Series modeling line by the Spanish maker AK interactive. The Earth Brown shade with the serial number 5 comes from the numbered system of camouflage colors of the US Army and Marine Corps used during the Second World War to break up the silhouette of vehicles. It is a darker brown with an earthy, slightly grayish character, which in a scheme forms the contrasting component to the lighter ocher tones. The paint comes in a bottle of 17 ml and dries to a matte surface.

Use

• It is applied with a brush as well as an airbrush; for the airbrush it is thinned with water or with acrylic thinner from the same maker.
• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom when it stands for a while.
• You will get the best coverage in two or three thin coats on a degreased base treated with a primer.
• The darker brown also serves well for accenting shadows, for underpainting chassis and as a base under layers of mud.
• Do not thin a water-based acrylic with lacquer or enamel thinners, as the two chemistries do not go together.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of American Second World War equipment building vehicles in multicolor camouflage and for diorama builders who need a reliable dark earthy brown. It also finds use in painting the gear of figures and the wooden elements of a scene. Working with a water-based acrylic is comfortable with a brush as well as an airbrush and calls for no aggressive thinners.

The paint is intended for modeling use. Keep it out of the reach of children, do not swallow it and make sure there is enough ventilation and respiratory protection when spraying. Close the bottle carefully after use and protect it from frost.
