ODORLESS THINNER from AK interactive is an odorless thinner intended for oil paints and enamel products, that is above all for washes, filters and effects such as soiling and streaks. The bottle holds 35 ml. Its main advantage is that it is a markedly gentler and less aggressive thinner than classic mineral spirits (white spirit), both for your nose and for the paint under a wash. Because of that it is more pleasant to work with at the bench and it can be used to blend and softly merge transitions without the wash immediately biting into the layer beneath. This is modeling chemistry, not a kit.
The combination of an acrylic base with an enamel or oil wash over it is a common method precisely because the two media are thinned with different solvents and can be separated from each other. An odorless thinner is the gentlest of this group and is used exactly where a more aggressive mineral spirit would risk attacking or dissolving the surface. Even so we recommend sticking to proven practice: let the base color cure completely, ideally give the model a gloss clear coat before the wash, and try a new method first on a hidden area or on an offcut. The behavior of a particular clear coat and a particular paint differs, and aggressive scrubbing with a brush will do harm even with a gentle thinner.
