Most aids on a modeling bench get replaced sooner or later. A wooden paint organizer belongs to the minority that survives several generations of unfinished models and in the end grows old before it wears out. That is exactly why it pays to choose an honest material: plywood keeps its shape even after years, unlike thin-walled plastic it is not deformed by the heat of a lamp, and a scratch on it looks like patina rather than damage.
The area taken up is 34 x 24 cm and the height is 25 cm. For comparison, that is roughly a quarter of an ordinary desktop, so there is still room beside it for a cutting mat and for the model in progress. The dark finish blends in with most worktops and does not draw attention, which is no small thing for something you have in front of you all day.
It also serves as a portable crate: you put it into a bag with the bottles inside and take it to a modelers' meeting. Do not count on it as enclosed storage, though, because the structure is open, so the paints stay in sight and dust settles on them at the same time. Anyone who builds only occasionally does well to cover the organizer with a piece of cloth.
