PANZERBAND — black self-adhesive tape (Solid Scale)

A self-adhesive modeling tape from the German manufacturer Solid Scale in black. It is not a kit and not a paint, but a working and finishing accessory. The manufacturer offers it in further color variants as well, so a shade can be chosen according to whether it is meant to show on the model or, on the contrary, to blend in. It is used in two ways: as an aid in masking and in holding parts during the work, and as a material for imitating the adhesive cloth tape with which lights, joints or damaged places are blanked off on real vehicles.

Use

• Cut the tape into strips right on the cutting mat with a sharp scalpel along a rule, not with scissors — the edge then stays straight.
• Degrease the surface before sticking it down; on dusty or greasy paint the tape does not hold.
• When masking, press the edges down and spray at a right angle in thin coats, so that the paint does not bleed under the edge.
• When imitating adhesive tape, leave the strips slightly irregular and rippled; a perfectly straight application looks unconvincing.
• Once dry, the strips that have been stuck down can be sprayed over or weathered, so that they blend in with the surrounding surface.

Who the tape is for

For builders of dioramas and models of vehicles who want to add small details suggesting field repairs and improvisation, and for modelers who will use it purely practically in masking. Given the character of the material, we recommend testing the adhesion in an inconspicuous place before applying it where it counts.
