PLA SEA BLUE

AK interactive PLA Sea Blue — modeling acrylic paint, 17 ml

A water-based acrylic paint from the AFV Series modeling line by the Spanish maker AK interactive. The PLA Sea Blue shade is a medium-saturated navy blue with a grayish cast. The maker places it among the colors of the PLA Marine Corps and airborne units, where it forms one of the middle components of digital camouflage patterns. The paint comes in a bottle with a volume of 17 ml and once dry it leaves a matte surface, which looks natural on scale equipment and figures alike. The abbreviation PLA in the name refers to the People's Liberation Army, whose color schemes the maker follows in this group of shades.

Use

• It is applied with a brush as well as an airbrush; for the airbrush it is thinned with water or with acrylic thinner from the same maker.
• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom when it stands for a while.
• You will get the best coverage in two or three thin coats on a degreased base treated with a primer.
• The middle tones of a pattern are best applied second in order, between the darkest and the lightest component, as the result then holds a better contrast.
• Do not thin a water-based acrylic with lacquer or enamel thinners, as the two chemistries do not go together.
