An Artwox Model self-adhesive wooden sheet with strips 2.8 mm wide covers extensive deck areas without lengthy assembly.
Responsibility details are not available.
According to the name an individual strip measures 2.8 mm and it is a self-adhesive finish. The material is not cut for any particular ship, so it also suits projects where you work the shape of the area out entirely yourself, for instance on conversions or on models built to your own documentation.
Large sailing ships tend to have long uninterrupted decks on which a narrow strip gets lost and the work drags on needlessly. A wide row covers the area faster and the line stays readable even from the distance at which a model in a display case is usually looked at. It also comes into its own on bridges, platforms and anywhere you want to keep a calm rhythm without fine detail.
Always cut pieces a little longer than you need and shorten the overhang in place. Before laying one down, run a dry cloth over the surface, because even a small grain shows under the wood as a bump. Once the surface is finished you can shade the individual rows very slightly, so that the whole does not look mechanically uniform. The shade can be fine-tuned later as well, as wood takes toning readily. Keep the leftover pieces in an envelope out of direct light, so that they do not darken before the finished model does.
