A primer in a flesh tone. It serves as the first coat under flesh painting on figures: it unifies the surface and carries the starting tone straight away.

A primer tuned to a flesh tone. It is used as the first coat on a prepared model, above all where skin is going to be painted: on the faces, the hands and the exposed parts of figures.
The primer unifies a surface made up of different materials and of filled areas, improves the adhesion of the coats that follow and reveals score marks, scratches and gaps that do not close before you start painting. On a smooth surface without a primer the paint also rubs off easily while handling the piece, and that is exactly the case with a figure you have to hold between your fingers.
A flesh-toned primer saves one coat: the skin is built up from a tone already laid on the model, so it is enough to deepen the shadows and pull out the highlights. The layer of paint stays thinner and the fine relief of the face stays legible. A warm base also suits light shades with poor coverage, giving them depth.
Wash and degrease the surface before you work, because a primer does not hold on greasy plastic. Apply it in thin coats and let them dry through; a heavy coat floods the fine relief of the face and hands and that does not come back. Deepen the shadows with a wash into the recesses, pull out the highlights with glazes or a dry brush, and leave the eyes until last. The thinner and the thinning ratio follow the manufacturer's instructions.
The package holds the primer only. Figures, thinner, brushes and an airbrush are not included, unless stated otherwise.
