A thin wide strip 0.38 x 4.8 mm in white styrene. It makes sheet metal bands, deck planks and banding on hulls. It is scored with a knife and separated by snapping.

The ratio of 0.38 to 4.8 mm makes this piece more of a tape than a bar. It is thin enough to be bent around a rounded hull without warming and at the same time wide enough to read as a separate sheet metal part once painted. Strips like this suit places where plastic sheet would be too thick and foil too soft.
In 1:35 scale the width corresponds to roughly seventeen centimeters, in 1:42 to twenty and in 1:70 to thirty-five. That covers the overlap of plates on a tanker, the reinforcing band of a crate, the deck plank of a tugboat or the deck of a footbridge over a ditch. It is also often used as a shim: the strip is glued under the edge of a part that sits too deep in the original kit, and the gap disappears. It serves equally well as the trim around the windows of buildings or as a straight guide strip along which the other edges are marked out.
The quickest way to divide it is to score one side with a blade and snap it over the edge of a table, which leaves a clean end with no burr. Longer pieces are better run along a ruler. Apply the glue thinly, because thin material softens with it quickly and will bow if pressed too hard. Before the coat cures, the strip can still be shifted flat on the model and pressed down with tweezers.
