A narrow styrene strip 0.75x2.0 mm, one piece 35 cm long.
Responsibility details are not available.
Not quite a millimeter of thickness and two millimeters of width give a section that behaves like a strip. It is stiff enough not to ripple once glued down, and at the same time slender enough not to overwhelm the surrounding detail. It goes into window and door frames, hatch edging, guide rails or bands of reinforcement on the sides of a hull.
It is supplied as one 35 cm profile, and so the price is for a single piece as well.
The cleanest cut is made by scoring and snapping – a saw leaves chips behind that then have to be laboriously sanded away. Short pieces are practical to cut against a prepared stop, so that they all come out the same to the millimeter. A drop of liquid cement led into the joint with a fine brush is enough to fit them together.
The material holds its dimension even after long storage and does not go brittle. Before spraying, it is only recommended to wipe off dust and any fingerprint.
It finds a use on buildings, wagons and cargo trailers and in conversions of kits where an edge or a frame is missing. In large scales it stands in for a bar, while in small ones it looks like a slender element of a steel structure. Anyone building interiors will appreciate that the strip can be set without resistance even into a narrow gap between bulkheads.
One last detail that saves your nerves: before you fix the strip permanently, lay it dry in the intended place and look at the joint from the side. Unevenness of the base shows at once under such a slender part and is easier to remove beforehand than after it has dried. Anyone working with tweezers will appreciate that the strip does not deform in their jaws.
