PS53 Lame Flake Spray

PS53 Lame Flake is an effect spray from the PS line of the Japanese brand Tamiya, intended for the polycarbonate bodies of RC models. Like the whole line it is applied to the inside of the body. The package holds 100 ml.

Unlike the color shades this is a glitter effect and not a covering paint. It contains fine reflective particles dispersed in a clear binder, so on its own it does not color the surface, it only gives it a sparkle. It is therefore used as a secondary coat alongside a color coat, much as a metallic effect is done on cars.

Use

• Plan the order of the coats, because on a body sprayed from the inside the glitter goes on first so that it is visible through the material.
• Degrease the inside of the body and get the dust off it, otherwise the particles will cling to the dirt.
• Shake the can for a really long time, because the heavier particles settle to the bottom faster than with any other type of paint.
• Apply in thin passes and keep checking the density of the sparkle against the light.
• Add the color coat and any covering base only after the glitter coat has flashed off.

Who it is for

The spray will be used by RC modelers who want a body in the style of a custom paint job with visible glitter, or who are looking for a metallic effect without mixing their own blends. The PS line is not intended for polystyrene plastic kits.

Flammable aerosol under pressure. Use with good ventilation or outdoors, with respiratory protection, away from open flame. Do not expose the can to heat, do not pierce it and do not throw it into a fire.
