PURE BLACK, a rich black for shadows and line work

Pure black is among the shades that are most often handled badly. As a color over an area it suits only exceptionally, because it swallows all the detail and the model then looks like a silhouette. As an admixture, however, it is irreplaceable: with it you can darken any tone down to the depth of a fold, draw the gap between panels or tune the rubber and sooted parts that no other color sits on. The difference between black as an area and black as a tool is in fact the main thing that separates a raw model from finished work. The package consists of a metal tube holding 20 ml of paint, and the word acrylic comes from the name of the range.

• Deep shadows in the folds of uniforms and cloaks
• Darkening other tones when building transitions
• Drawing gaps, openings and dividing lines
• Rubber parts, straps and harness, and belts on figures
• Sooted areas at the muzzles of barrels and at exhausts

Who the color is for

It will be used by anyone who mixes a palette of their own, and especially by anyone who paints figures. The proven modeling recommendation is not to reach for black for shadows on its own but to add it in small doses to the base tone. Otherwise the shadow goes gray, the area loses its coloring and the whole figure begins to look dirty, even if the work is technically well done.

Wipe the neck of the tube after squeezing and close it. Dried black is the hardest of all the shades to get off the thread. Store the paint out of the reach of children.
