Rolling Pin Arabic is a Green Stuff World texture roller with an ornamental pattern in the Arabic style. It serves to press texture into soft putty; it is not a paint and not the putty itself.

Rolling Pin Arabic from the Green Stuff World range of texture rollers is a tool, not a consumable. An ornamental pattern in the Arabic style is engraved on its surface, and a single pass presses it into rolled-out soft putty - into polymer clay, two-part modeling putty, air-drying compound or plaster slurry while it has not yet set. The result is a continuous decorated surface that could be carved by hand only with enormous labor and never so regularly. The roller does not contain putty and is not supplied with any.
First roll the putty out into an even layer on a smooth support; uneven thickness shows up as uneven depth of the impression. To keep the putty from sticking, coat both the support and the roller with a thin layer of water, soapy water or talc - water works well with polymer clay, while talc suits sticky putties better. Then run the roller over it in a single smooth pass with even pressure, without stopping and without going back, or the pattern will double. Leave the impressed surface in place to cure, and only then trim it to the shape of the base or the part. After work, wash the roller while the putty residue is still soft; dried material is hard to get out of the engraving and degrades the pattern.
Arabic ornament is typical of oriental architecture - paving, cladding, decorated walls, entrances and palace interiors. It comes into its own in dioramas with oriental and historical subjects, in fantasy scenes and on figure bases, where it instantly gives a recognizable cultural context.
For diorama builders, wargamers and base builders who make their own decorated surfaces and want to repeat them at the same quality. The roller is a tool for many uses, not a one-off accessory.
