Rolling Pin Norsemen is a texture roller from the Spanish brand Green Stuff World with a Norse motif, as the designation Norsemen itself suggests. Green Stuff World texture rollers serve to imprint a pattern into rolled-out modeling putty in one pass. What arises is a continuous area with a regular texture that cannot be drawn or engraved as quickly or as evenly. With Norse subjects that is exactly what helps: ornamental surfaces of the kind known from Scandinavian carving are very hard to do freehand, and irregularities in them show at once.
A Norse tone suits Viking and mythological scenes, the bases of warriors, the walls and doors of longhouses, the sides of ships and ceremonial stones. It also comes into its own as an ornamental band: the imprint only needs cutting into strips and wrapping around a column, a shield or the rim of a base. Believability is helped by deliberately leaving part of the pattern sanded down and clogged, as if the weather had long since worn it.
It is meant for figure modelers, builders of fantasy and historical dioramas, and players who make their own terrain. It is a permanent workshop aid: a roller bought once will serve dozens of bases and keep a uniform style between them, which with a collection of figures is often the main thing.
