A hand saw with a handle and a set of eight interchangeable blades. A saw is a tool used in a modeling workshop less often than a knife, but at the moment it is needed nothing replaces it: for cutting a casting block off a resin part, for parting a thick profile or for cutting through a joint that will not break apart.
The set of blades with various toothing makes it possible to work with plastic, with wood and with soft metals. Most often the saw is used for cutting casting blocks off resin parts, for shortening profiles and rods, for parting metal barrels and for opening glued joints when repairing older models.
Cut on the pull, not by pressing, and let the toothing itself do the work; pressure leads to a slip and to damage to the part. Always clamp the part or support it firmly. With resin cut slowly and level the surface afterward with sandpaper. When cutting resin and metal protect your airways, because a fine dust is created.
When cutting resin and metal use respiratory protection and work in a ventilated room.
