What the tool can do

The sanding stick combines sandpaper and a file in one body, so that during the work you do not have to change grip between two tools. This form is the coarse one and within the range it is distinguished by the color red; besides it, the range also offers a medium form in black and a fine one in purple, so that you can work from coarse removal through to finishing.

What it is good for

It is used where a surface needs leveling or where surplus material and traces of manufacture need removing: on the edges of parts, on the joints of a fuselage and a hull, on sanding putty down and on adjusting the shape of a part. The coarse form is intended for the first, quick removal of material. The firm body holds a flat plane, so a surface is leveled better with it than with sandpaper held between the fingers, which rounds the edges off.

How to work with it

• Work from the coarse form toward the fine one, as otherwise scratches will stay in the plastic.
• Draw the tool in smooth strokes in one direction and check the shape of the part as you go.
• Press lightly when sanding; the abrasive face does the work, not force.
• Dust the abrasive face off as you go, since a clogged face stops biting.
• Wash and degrease the sanded spot before painting.

Who it is for

It suits the building of plastic models as well as work on accessory sets and on modifying parts. A beginner who does not yet have a whole set of files will appreciate it, and so will an experienced modeler who wants coarse removal and refining to hand in one piece. The model, paints and other tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
