A dark brown carried under the designation S.C.C. No. 1A from the Orange Line range of the brand Hataka. The abbreviation S.C.C. means a standard camouflage shade of the British army: under these numbers the painting of British vehicles was brought into line during the Second World War. The brown tones of this system were carried by British machinery in the first years of the war, and later an olive replaced them. The shade therefore suits British tanks, armored cars and trucks from the earlier period.
The thinner meant for this range and the thinning ratio are given by the manufacturer on the packaging; clean the brushes and the airbrush according to the same instruction. Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, as settled pigment will otherwise change both the tone and the covering. Apply in thin layers and let each one set before the next comes. Wash and degrease the surface of the model beforehand, as a coat does not hold on greasy plastic and peels away when masks are removed.
Dark brown shades easily swallow detail on a model. On larger areas, therefore, count on lightening the base further toward the middle of the areas, as otherwise the vehicle looks flat. Try the shade on a piece of scrap plastic; on a small area and under different lighting it looks different from in a color chart, and a layer of varnish will shift it further. Close the bottle carefully after the work and store it in a dry place, away from frost and from direct sun.
