A Model Scene mat from the range of terrain surfaces with the motif of stony North African ground. It is not a kit or an object of a scene in its own right but a material to be applied: the surface is finished on a carrier layer and the modeler only cuts it to the shape of the base and glues it down. That does away with layering scatter materials of different grain and unifying them by color.
Dry terrain easily degenerates on a model into a monotonous area of one color. It only becomes believable once stones of different sizes, fine dust between them and irregular light and dark patches alternate on it. The mat brings this texture ready made, so a modeler can concentrate on the composition of the scene, on the figures and on the equipment instead of on preparing the base.
For builders of dioramas and vignettes with dry terrain, for modelers of equipment who want to set a model on a believable base, and for figure painters when working on bases.
