A slate gray shade, that is a darker cool gray, from the acrylic range that AMMO of Mig Jimenez aims at painting figures and uniforms. The paint is a water-thinnable acrylic in a dropper bottle and is applied with a brush and with an airbrush. Darker cool grays are used on uniforms and equipment, but also as a base under lighter gray areas and as an element in shadow mixes.
The classic way of painting a figure is built on three tones. First the base goes down, then a darker mix is laid into the recesses and folds and a lightened mix onto the raised edges instead. This shade works well both as the base and as the darker element, because it is saturated enough not to disappear in a shadow. For layering, thin the paint more than for ordinary painting, ideally so that it is semi-transparent, and build a shadow up by applying it repeatedly in the same place. At the end, even the transition between the tones out with a very thin coat of the base color drawn across the whole area, a so-called glaze.
For figure modelers working with the layering technique and for builders of vehicles and ships who need a darker cool gray on the palette.
Shake before use. Work in a ventilated space, use respiratory protection when spraying and keep the paint out of the reach of children.
