A snap-off knife solves one particular problem in a modeling workshop: keeping the edge sharp all the time. As soon as the tip stops cutting cleanly, the blunted segment is snapped off and the work goes on. In modeling work that is no small matter, because a blunt blade tears plastic not only to the eye but literally, and leaves a whitened edge that then has to be sanded and filled. The slim body is held much like a pencil, so the knife will manage long straight cuts along a ruler as well. According to the title the package holds a knife and ten blades; the dimensions, the width of the blade and the material of the body are given on the packaging.
A snap-off blade is by its nature thinner and springier than a scalpel one, so it does not suit levering, separating thick sprue gates or deep cuts into thick plastic. Use nippers or a saw for that. A snapped-off segment is still dangerously sharp, so put it in a closed container, not in the bin. Before snapping, lock the knife and always snap the blade away from yourself, ideally with pliers or with the case meant for it.
A tool with a sharp edge. Keep it out of the reach of children, retract the blade into the body after the work and dispose of used segments safely.
