A set of resin diorama accessories in 1:24 scale from AK interactive, bringing several soda vending machines together in one package. The machines are separate castings with the front, the dispensing bin and the coin slot modeled in, so they can be placed next to one another along a wall or each one somewhere else around the scene. The point of the set is precisely that several pieces fill the wall of a workshop, the front of a store or a nook by a gas pump at once.
Soda vending machines have been omnipresent in American street scenery since the 1950s — they stand at the entrances of stores, at gas stations, in service stations and under the canopies of motels. A tall cabinet form with a bold colored front, a glazed or sheet-metal front side and a dispensing bin near the ground is characteristic. The machines stand outdoors all year, so they have a faded front, chipped paint around the dispenser and deposits of dust at the foot — and it is precisely these details that make a credible object of them.
First wash the resin castings with lukewarm water and dish soap — otherwise the remains of the mold release agent from the mold will not let the paint hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutter, and never break them off. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust does not belong in the lungs. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and ordinary glue for plastic does not work here. Apply a primer before painting, after which ordinary modeling acrylics are enough. The credibility comes only with the weathering: a dark wash in the recesses, light scuffs on the edges and dust pigment at the foot of the part.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a base and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
