SOLUTION BOX 09 - Brick Buildings

A brick wall from the base coat to the patina

The Solution Box 09 from AMMO of Mig Jimenez is a complete package on one subject: brick buildings in a diorama. It holds twenty-one items and, with them, the pictorial guide Solution Book 09, which takes the whole procedure step by step from the base shade to the final dust.

What you will find in the box

• seven shades of the ATOM Color acrylic line: matte white, matte black, sand gray, wood, rust, dark rust and a chocolate brown to the RAL 8017 standard
• a thinner and a cleaner from the same ATOM line
• a gloss protective varnish of increased durability, 20 ml
• two Matt Shader shades, earth and grime
• three pigments: dark urban dust, rubble and white
• a brown filter, four Oilbrusher oil sticks and, to go with them, an odorless enamel thinner, 35 ml

What to watch out for

The box deliberately combines two different chemistries. The ATOM Color shades are thinned with the water-based thinner from the same box, whereas the oil sticks and the filter belong with the odorless enamel thinner, which is supplied separately. That is exactly why the patina can be laid over the base coat without the layer underneath dissolving. The pigments are loose powders; do not inhale them, and work with extraction or by an open window.

Who the box is for

• builders of dioramas with town or village buildings
• modelers who want the whole procedure together, instructions included
• beginners, for whom the guide saves looking up the right order of the steps
