Eight acrylic shades of 17 ml each for Soviet aircraft of the interwar period and the first year of the war, including an aluminum tone.
Responsibility details are not available.
The prewar Soviet Air Force flew in a guise that later wartime photographs hardly captured: silvery biplane airframes, green upper surfaces with blue-gray undersides and a fairly varied assortment of dopes that changed several times over a few years. The I-16, the I-153 Chaika, the R-5 reconnaissance aircraft and the fast bombers all belong to this era, which ends only with the first months of 1941, when the MiG-3, the LaGG-3 and the Yak-1 were entering service.
In the box you will find the protective green and the gray-blue of the 1920s and 1930s, then the light gray and the aluminum dope from the range designated by the letters AE and AII, the green and light blue from the AII range and finally the light blue-gray and grass green from the A-18f and A-19f ranges. Each bottle holds 17 ml.
The aluminum shade is the key to a convincing prewar machine: most Soviet aircraft of the time had a doped, not a polished surface, so what you want is not a mirror but a matte silver finish with a visible texture. The greens of the AII range, on the other hand, are fairly rich and on a model it is worth lightening them toward the centers of the panels, because the original faded quickly in the sun. The paints can be applied with an airbrush and with a brush alike.
Prewar machines carried stars without a white outline and often a prominent number on the vertical tail. The darker greens make a good background for such markings, whereas on silvery surfaces you have to reckon with the star standing out far more sharply and tolerating not the slightest inaccuracy along its edge.
The contents are the bottles of paint only.
