An unassembled and unpainted plastic kit from the stylized range of compact simplified models. It has no declared scale — the fuselage is deliberately shortened and the proportions adjusted into endearing shapes, while the recognizable features of the real subject stay readable. According to the name, the set is supplemented with a worked interior and with a pilot figure. The exact number of parts and the rest of the contents of the package are stated on the packaging of the kit.
The SPAD XIII was a French single-seat fighter biplane of the late First World War, built around an inline water-cooled engine. It was marked by a strong structure, good speed and a steep dive, which made it one of the most widespread fighter types of the closing stages of the war; American units flew it as well. Eddie Rickenbacker was among the best-known American fighter pilots of the period, and his name is permanently linked with the SPAD XIII.
Stylized kits have larger and simpler parts, which makes the surface show all the more. Snip the sprue gates off with nippers and level them, glue the joints with thin cement for plastic and sand them down. We recommend painting and finishing the interior before you close the fuselage — on a model with a worked interior that is the only moment you can reach it. Paint the pilot figure separately and fit it at the very end. The wooden and fabric surfaces of period airplanes are well imitated by thin translucent coats over a light base; then even the whole thing out with a varnish in the degree of sheen you have chosen.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
