The box holds three spare sanding bands 10 mm wide, one each in coarse, medium and fine grit. It is not a tool in its own right but a consumable refill for the Model Craft spring-loaded finger sander of the same width: the band slips onto the spring arm of the sander, which tensions it by itself. The narrow profile is the main advantage, as it reaches into spaces where an ordinary sanding block is too bulky, and thanks to the spring tension it follows curved surfaces too.

Use

• Leveling sprue nubs and mold seams on plastic and resin parts.
• Sanding inside narrow spaces such as cockpits, wheel wells, exhausts, openings and gaps between parts.
• Smoothing filler on curved transitions, where a flat sanding block undercuts the surface.
• Working step by step from coarse through medium to fine grit before the primer goes on.

Who the set is for

For anyone who already owns the spring-loaded finger sander of this width and needs to replace a worn band, or to keep a spare set of all three grits on hand. The bands wear unevenly depending on how often each grit is used, so it pays to have a replacement within reach. The set suits modelers of plastic kits and resin accessories as well as wooden ship models, where a great many curved surfaces have to be sanded.

Do not breathe the sanding dust: work in a ventilated space and, for longer sanding of resin, use a respirator and eye protection. Wet sanding reduces the dust considerably.
