Splash Gel Flaming Yellow - saturated yellow splatter

A paste from the Splash Gel weathering line of the Spanish brand Green Stuff World. It differs from liquid effects in its consistency: it is thick, so once applied it does not spread across the area but stays sitting where you put it and creates a splash with a visible edge. The Flaming Yellow shade is a saturated signal yellow, the color of sulfur, of a chemical leak and of warning markings.

Where it belongs in the painting process

• The paste belongs only on a finished and perfectly dry coat, or you risk pulling the paint off underneath it.
• Before using it over an area, try it in a hidden place or on a spare figure.
• Build the effect in two or three passes rather than one heavy application, as the density can then be stopped in time.
• Combine it with pigments: dry powder sprinkled into paste that is still damp gives it a grain and grime.

What it is suited to

On figures and vehicles that are meant to look as if they have been through a chemical laboratory, an industrial plant or a mutagenic puddle. Yellow is at the same time the color of a warning coat, so it suits machines and terrain elements with striped markings, where the splash hints that the machine really works. In a fantasy setting it works as a sulfurous or poisonous eruption.

For players who want to set an army apart with a strong mark of color, and for modelers working on bases and terrain elements. A saturated yellow is conspicuous, so use it sparingly and rather complete it with a darker shade, so that the result does not look like a poster.
