Spot-On Pigment No. 11 Light Sand

A loose modeling pigment from the numbered Spot-On line from the manufacturer VMS. It carries the sequence number No. 11 and the shade name Light Sand, that is, light sand. It is the light member of the line, which comes into its own everywhere the surface is meant to look dried out and dusty. The same line also carries the textured variant No. 12 Light Sand Textured, so fine dust and a coarser deposit can be combined.

Use

• Dry dust on the horizontal surfaces of a hull, on wings and on the upper surfaces of a fuselage.
• Dusty deposits on the landing gear of an aircraft and on the wheels of vehicles deployed in dry terrain.
• Lightening darker earthy shades and softening transitions that are too sharp.
• Light sandy terrain on a base or in a diorama.

Work tips

Light dust looks convincing above all over a darker base, where a natural contrast arises. Apply it in very thin layers and keep inspecting the model in daylight, because under artificial light the saturation is harder to judge. It proves best to pick the powder up on a brush, tap the rest off and only then touch the model. Vertical surfaces hold less material than horizontal ones, which also matches reality.
