Aber - stainless steel tow cable, diameter 1.5 mm, length 1 m is a braided steel wire intended for making faithful tow cables, ship rigging and crane cables on models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A braided stainless steel wire from the Polish maker Aber. It is neither a finished part nor a kit but a modeling material - a one-meter piece of cable of a diameter of 1.5 mm, from which you cut exactly as much as you need. Since this is a real braided cable, it has the correct structure of the lay as well as the characteristic metallic sheen that cannot be imitated with twine or with a plastic molding.
The commonest use is to replace the plastic tow cables on armored vehicles, where they tend to be molded in simplified form and cannot be bent into a real sag. It also suits ship rigging, anchor and tow cables, the hoisting cables of cranes, winches and towing gear in dioramas. Unlike copper wire, stainless steel does not corrode and the cable holds the shape you bend it into.
Before you cut the cable through, secure the place of the cut with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue or tin it - otherwise the end will unravel. It has to be cut with pliers with hardened jaws or with a miniature grinder with a cutting disc; ordinary modeling nippers for plastic will be damaged on stainless steel. The eyes at the ends are made from photo-etched parts, from thin brass sheet or from a loop secured with tin. It can be painted after degreasing and applying a metal primer, but it is often enough to leave the metal in its natural color and merely darken it with a wash and bring it out with rust pigments.
This is a modeling material, not a finished part. Glue, paints and end eyes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
