Styrene rectangular strip 2.0 x 3.0 x 350 mm from AK interactive is a more robust polystyrene strip in a package of 8 pieces for load-bearing beams and frame structures.
Responsibility details are not available.
A section of styrene (polystyrene) with a cross section of 2.0 x 3.0 mm and a length of 350 mm, in a package of 8 pieces. Two millimeters of thickness move the strip out of the category of detail trim and in among genuinely load-bearing members: it holds its shape even over a longer span and will take other parts being glued to it. At the same time it is still subtle enough not to look coarse in the usual modeling scales.
At this thickness breaking along a scored line may no longer give a flat face; a fine saw and leveling with a file or a sanding block is more comfortable. Build frames on a flat surface and rather in sections, so that the structure does not twist. Cement for plastics welds the joint chemically, so once dry it can be sanded away to nothing as a single piece. If you later clad the skeleton with thin strips, allow for the thickness of the cladding when you set out the dimensions.
For modelers who build their own structures, superstructures and dioramas and need a member that holds its shape. It also serves well as a hidden load-bearing skeleton under visible cladding made from thinner sections.
Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package. When cutting and sanding, work on a surface and in a well-ventilated room.
