The Weathering Aircraft number 16, on the subject of unusual and rare machines. A modeling magazine about the weathering of aircraft models, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a modeling magazine from the publisher AMMO of Mig Jimenez, focused exclusively on the weathering and surface finish of aircraft models. It is not a model, a paint set or a guide to building a particular kit. Number 16 carries the subject of rare and unusual machines, that is types that are not built every day and for which the modeler cannot lean on hundreds of period photographs.
Aircraft weathering has rules of its own. Panel lines, exhaust stains, the worn walkway on a wing or faded paint on the upper surfaces look different from the wear of ground hardware and they are easy to overdo. With poorly documented machines a second problem is added: a shortage of references. The modeler then has to start from where the machine served, for how long and in what climate, and from that estimate the degree of wear so that the result looks convincing and at the same time does not overshoot.
The whole series is built around pictures. The individual builds are broken into phased photographs in which you can see how the surface changes step by step, so the reader learns not only the result but also the order of operations, that is when the gloss varnish comes, when the wash and when the dry pigment. It is the order that is more often the cause of failure with aircraft models than the choice of a particular product. You will therefore also use the publication by coming back to it during a build and comparing your own intermediate stage with the example.
This is a publication, not a kit. Models, paints and tools are not included in the package.
