The light sandy gray Lifecolor Israeli Sandgrey 61-73 FS30372 suits the inside as well — the inner sides of hatches, the bays and the surfaces that carry the same tone as the outside.

Israeli sandy gray is a shade most modelers associate with an outer finish. But on vehicles painted one tone over the whole surface it holds that the same color is carried by the inner sides of hatches, doors, covers and often the upper part of the fighting compartment too. A shade with a reference to the American Federal Standard in its name thus gets even where daylight falls only marginally.
A light tone inside behaves differently from the inside of a dark space: it does not darken into vagueness but goes gray and limp. For the inner side of a hatch not to look like a flat piece of plastic, it needs contrast in the opposite direction — a dark wash around the stiffeners, the latches and the hinges, and fine shading along the edges. Only then does it show that the hatch has thickness and that there is a space behind it. The lower edges also suit traces of dirt, which build up most around openings.
For modelers of modern vehicles who want open hatches taken to the same level as the outside of the model. It also comes into its own where you need a light sandy gray tone without a warm cast.
Store the paint out of the reach of children and work in a ventilated space.
