The mid gray Lifecolor Grey FS36270 is the linking tone in an interior — it neither disappears in shadow nor overrides the details, and it therefore suits the surfaces under glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
A gray in the middle of the scale has a thankless but indispensable role in a closed space. The darkest tones make depth, the lightest make light, and between them there has to be an area that links the two — otherwise an interior looks like contrasty graphics, not like a space. A mid gray with a reference to the American Federal Standard in its name is a reliable choice for that task.
When a cockpit is closed under a clear part, the whole interior darkens by roughly one step and the color differences are squeezed together. Modelers who do not allow for it end up, once the canopy is on, with an interior in which nothing can be seen. A mid gray is therefore a good base where there is going to be glazing: under the glass it leaves enough room for dark instruments and for light emphasis alike. Anyone who wants to be sure holds the clear part over the part-built interior and looks at how much detail really survives.
For modelers who plan an interior as a whole and want a legible space under the glazing, not a dark blotch.
Keep out of the reach of children, and ventilate during longer work.
