Lifecolor UA093 Ocean Grey, 22 ml

A British gray with a cast toward blue from the Italian Lifecolor range, in a bottle with a volume of twenty-two milliliters. The paint is acrylic, thinned with water or with the brand's own thinner, and applied with a brush as well as an airbrush. For the shade the manufacturer gives the number FS 36187 of the American standard. The manufacturer builds the shades of this range on period research and on surviving evidence, not on a guess from a photograph.

What the shade belongs to

Ocean Grey belongs to the British day fighter scheme that from 1941 replaced the older earthy camouflage: the upper surfaces got a dark green and precisely this gray, while the underside got a lighter gray tone. It is in that combination that the shade most often appears on models, so it is usually bought in a pair or a trio with other paints of the same scheme.

How to apply the paint

Shake the bottle thoroughly, as the pigment settles to the bottom. For a brush the paint is used practically as it is; for an airbrush thin it to the consistency of milk and spray in thin coats. Go over the area with gloss varnish before the decals.

Keep the paint out of the reach of children, ventilate when spraying and protect your airways. Close the bottle carefully after use.
