Late wartime production had a tone of its own, and the shade M43 Tunic from the Lifecolor uniform line is exactly that: the color of the Pattern M43 field tunic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Pattern M43 tunic belongs to the late phase of the war, when the cut was simplified and fabric was saved. The M43 Tunic shade is mixed for this last form of the field uniform and follows on from the tones of the older and the transitional pattern in the same uniform line. It is a water-based acrylic paint intended for figures, their uniforms and personal kit.
Fabric of late production was coarser and less colorfast, so wear showed on it sooner than on older garments. On a figure that can be put to use: let the tone work with more pronounced highlights on the elbows, the shoulders and the front panels and with a shadow that holds longer in the folds. The uniform then does not look just issued and the difference against a leather jacket or canvas equipment on the same figure stands out clearly. It is exactly the alternation of materials, not the number of shades, that makes a figure believable.
It will be reached for by modelers of figures and dioramas from the last years of the war and by everyone who wants the patterns of uniforms set apart in one scene. The shade of trousers of the same pattern from the same series completes the pair.
