Lifecolor J3 Hai-Iro Grey, a matte acrylic

A matte water-thinnable acrylic paint from the Italian brand Lifecolor. The J3 Hai-Iro shade is a light gray opaque color used on the aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during the Second World War. The bottle holds 22 ml and the paint has a markedly matte character.

Use

  • Applied with a brush or an airbrush; for spraying it is thinned with water or acrylic thinner.
  • Suited above all to Japanese naval aircraft, but also to figures, accessories and dioramas in a matching tone.
  • It looks best over a smoothed ground carrying a primer.
  • The matte surface is a good basis for washes, filters and weathering that follow.
