Girders, bridge structures and iron frames need a tone of their own, and Framework Iron from the Lifecolor acrylic range is mixed precisely for them.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Lifecolor shade from the group of industrial metals. It is a dark iron color shifted toward gray and blue, of the kind that load-bearing structures have: bridge trusses, cranes, halls, the steel frames of buildings and machine frames.
Structural iron differs from sheet metal mainly in the way light lies on it. Sections have sharp edges and plenty of shadowed places, so the shade has to be dark enough for the shadow to work, and at the same time it must not sink into black, or the structure loses its drawing. This tone keeps exactly between the two.
Where it finds use
How to get the most out of the shade
A structure comes alive when the edges of the sections are lightened and the corners, on the contrary, darkened. A dry brush in a lighter metal tone works well for that, as does a dark wash in the joints. Spots of rust at the places of connections and rivets then add the impression of a structure that stands outdoors and is exposed to the weather for years.
The paint is applied with the brush and the airbrush alike; stir it properly before work, so that all the sections have the same tone.
For railway modelers, builders of industrial dioramas and modelers of vehicles who deal with large metal structures and need to distinguish them from sheet metal surfaces.
Keep out of the reach of children. Work in a ventilated area.
