A base tone for painting wood in a cold shade shifted toward gray, in a bottle with a volume of twenty-two milliliters. Cold wood is not the same as warm wood: weathered boards, dried-out planking and old gates are closer to gray than to rusty brown, and it is exactly these surfaces the shade is built for. The paint is acrylic, thinned with water or with the brand's own thinner, and applied with a brush as well as an airbrush.
The shade works as a base, not as a finished surface. Once the base coat has dried, thin irregular streaks of a lighter and a darker color are drawn over it in the direction of the grain, best with a half-dry brush, and the whole is then unified with a dark seeping coat that runs into the gaps between the boards. The weathering can be brought out further by passing a dry brush lightly over the edges. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
