The neutral gray of railroad vehicles and station equipment is offered by Rail Grey, an acrylic shade from the Lifecolor railroad group.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Lifecolor paint on an acrylic base, mixed as the working gray of railroads. It is neither a cool blue-gray nor a dark charcoal but rather a calm medium tone that on a model works as the area on which work with weathering only begins.
Where to use it
Why gray decides on a model
Gray areas make up most of what a viewer sees close up on a railroad model: the running gear, the trucks, the roof, the surroundings of the track. When they all have exactly the same tone, the result looks uniform and uninteresting. It therefore pays to work with deviations: the roof one shade darker, the running gear dirtied toward brown, the side frames, on the contrary, lightened with dust.
The shade is applied with the brush and the airbrush alike. Stir the paint thoroughly before use, so that the tone sits across the whole series of parts you paint in several sessions. For the large areas of roofs an airbrush is more practical; small frames and latticework a brush will manage.
For railroad modelers, builders of layouts and diorama makers who need a reliable neutral gray as a working base under further coats.
Keep out of the reach of children. Work in a ventilated area.
